Udupi: An incident of landslide is reported from the bathing ghat of Sheembra Sri Siddivinayaka Temple at Perampalli.

According to the locals, the landslide incident occurred due to heavy rains in the area and due to the removal of mud for the construction of the bathing ghat.

Reportedly, two years back, the State Small Irrigation Department had sanctioned Rs 1 crore for the construction of a bathing ghat. The construction process had begun and loads of stones were piled up in the area. The department had also begun the removal of mud and leveling of the land for construction.

Moreover, heavy rains were observed in Perampalli and the surrounding areas for the past few days. As a result of this, the landslide incident occurred at the bathing ghat construction site.

Currently, the locals have urged the concerned officials to carryout the construction process, without damaging the foundation of the temple.
